A Vermont, Wisconsin man really didn’t think much of Bristol Palin’s latest performance on Dancing With The Stars–so much so that he destroyed his television with his shotgun.

Steven Cowan, 67, reportedly had been drinking at a local bar (surprise), before coming home and having a beer with dinner, and settling in to watch the show.

When Palin, the daughter of former vice presidential candidate-turned-GOP celebrity Sarah Palin, began her routine, Cowan jumped up and began swearing, saying something like “The (expletive) politics.” His wife said he was upset that a political figure’s daughter was dancing on TV even though he felt she didn’t have talent.

She told officers her husband left the living room and reappeared 20 minutes later with his shotgun, “raging” with his face bright red, and blasted the TV.

Cowan, who also reportedly suffers from bipolar disorder, then pointed the gun at his wife and threatened to kill her–not the first time he has threatened her life.  His wife, after being ordered to fetch his pistols (which his daughter had recently removed from the house for “unspecified reasons”), left and called the police.

A SWAT team surrounded the house, forcing an all-night standoff, before Cowan was talked out Tuesday morning. He was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, and could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
